Prompt for Friday, February 27, 2026:
If you spend much time around Instagram, you’ve probably come across an #OOTD (outfit of the day) post. Work clothes worn around the farm aren’t usually the first thing we think to post about online, but many of us have outfits that tell a story: perhaps the sweatshirt is an old high school basketball hoodie; the blotch on the calf of the jeans is a stubborn oil stain you’ve long-since given up on; the hole at the tip of the index finger of the glove wore through on its own but comes in handy when you need to whip your phone out of the back pocket to send a quick text message. This weekend’s challenge is to share your outfit, ideally something you’re wearing around the farm.
- Classic OOTD post: grab a mirror selfie or have someone snap a photo of you out working. Are you more of an ‘old but comfy clothes’ kind of person (may or may not include a ~10-year-old school sweatshirt) or more of a ‘these are my dedicated farm clothes *only* worn around the farm’ kind of person?
- We may experience two seasons in Illinois this weekend. Grab a photo of the before (warm weather) and after (winter weather) outfits you might wear to do farm chores or work outside this weekend.
- Layering up before heading out in the chilly weather (or dare we say snow)? Do a quick flat-lay photo! Spread your layers (including shoes, hats, gloves, and coat) on the floor and stand on a chair to take a photo looking straight down. A vertical photo is usable for both a feed post and story post! Bonus: empty your pockets and include those items in the photo, too!
- More than farm chores on your calendar? Take a photo of each of the outfits you wear through the day. This is great for those who want to show the transformation from morning farm chores to day-job professional attire.
This prompt is a great opportunity to break up your feed with a carousel-style post – just be sure to post three or more photos.
